A testament to the power of arts, culture, community, and activism, director Nance Ackerman follows five young Sikh immigrants of the Maritime Bhangra Group, and peers beyond their dance and viral videos as they dance to fundraise for social causes and organizations. Join their pursuit of  “joyful activism” as they seek connections with First Nations communities, raise awareness for Climate Change, and challenge us to consider how dance can change our perceptions of identity and social responsibility.

Davis Bhangra Crew was established at UC Davis in 2013, and is a talented family of students, non-students, dancers, and members of different religions and backgrounds who share the same passion for Bhangra. The in-demand ensemble has transformed the dance community in Davis and the greater Sacramento region, and is competitive on the national collegiate Bhangra circuit, while sharing Punjabi culture, power, grace, and happiness that makes Bhangra one of the most enjoyable and exciting dances worldwide.
